Expansive Feng Shui Ways I’ve Organized My Schedule During Social Distancing

I want to look back on this post very soon as a distant memory, but for now, we all have a nearly-universal mandate to be at home.

Given the moment, I’ve been inspired to write out a schedule for myself as more of a guide than a strict plan.

It’s something that I know will serve me long after it’s over– with ample time for self-care, sleep, workouts, breaks and so much energetic work and spiritual practice.

While I’m not forcing anything right now, from the day I laid this out for myself I felt more anchored in purpose while at home.

I don’t expect any of you to do what I do, but it can be a good jumping-off-point to do a schedule of your own.

If it’s true that habits solidify in 21-30 days or so, or maybe a bit longer, I aim to grow in my resolve and balance to be of greater service when this is over, and I know you do, too.

I decided if I was going to have balance, I needed to address lots of the major areas of life. If you haven’t seen the Feng Shui Bagua map, some of the major departments of life are laid out pretty clearly:

bagua

You might call them by different names but essentially, the areas can translate to something very simple. My aim is to do things every day to stand stronger in all of these ways.

BEING OF SERVICE (Helpful People)

WORKING ON YOUR MISSION /PURPOSE (Career)

LEARNING + SPIRITUAL GROWTH (Wisdom)

CREATIVITY

HEALTH + WELLNESS -mentally, physically, emotionally. (Health)

GETTING THINGS DONE (Legacy)

LOVE AND EVERY RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE INCLUDING SELF LOVE (Love)

CREATING AND MANIFESTING FUTURE VISIONS (Fame/Power)

ABUNDANCE IN ALL WAYS (Money)

You can literally make a list of things you’ve wanted or needed to do in each area.

Even if you just get to work on a few in a day, having brainstormed like this, you definitely won’t find yourself idle or bored.

I’ve always believed a lesson I learned as a kid that we build morale and courage through productivity. So, staying crafty in these ways can make sure my mind doesn’t wander to dark places.

Brainstorm your list and you’ll have a great sense of where you want to invest your energy.  You’ll have nine categories to choose from daily.

This has been, in itself, colossal for my motivation and mindset.

Then, I make myself a sheet of paper with three sections every day:

Morning — Afternoon– Evening

I wake up and use my brainstorming list to fill in things I want to do.

If I don’t get it all done, I’m fine with it.

It’s enabled me to start reading books, get tech projects underway, start writing big things, get the blog done, exercise, start making art, double the time I spend doing self-care and my spiritual practice, sleep more and talk twice as much as ever before to friend and family.

Since I’ve started, my mind is more clear and I feel so much more able to access my intuition because I’m so much less stagnant and introverted.

You’ll find your best ways to organize your days, but the overarching idea here is to be resourceful, expansive, mission-driven and full of self-care.

It’s in my daily prayers and intentions that you are safe, calm and well, and that you’ll be soon emerging from this extraordinary time so much stronger, more inspired and more ready to create epic positive effects in the world than ever before!
