I am an intense color lover, but I will say that I find great solace in black and white, especially photography. Color is yang, loud and active. The restraint of the black and white is more yin, cool and quiet. Even intense imagery gets softer in black and white. Form becomes more evident. Simplicity shines through. Black and white can get lost in home decor, but if you put it front and center with confidence, black and while art can help you to craft a fabulous narrative for your home on your walls.
While strolling through Pinterest, I got sucked into the glamorous Minimalist world of Emmas Designblogg and it served as today’s blog-spiration. If you like what you see as much as I adore it, follow her right here.
Spare meets texture and everything comes together in a black and white bubble of feel-goodness.
Staggering the graphic black and white creates visual sheet music along a wall.
Such focus from utter simplicity as an X marks the spot you should see.
Again, an X, but this torn from a fashion magazine. Along with other torn bits. Wall collage is definitely art.
First, the stack of art books in the fireplace is awesome. Next, the walls layered in abstract blacks and whites are strong but easy to project one’s imagination upon.
There’s no one right way to work with art in your life, though, except the one that feels right to you. Follow your feelings and live with more art! xoxo Dana
